The 2012 Jeep Wrangler SUV is the ultimate four-wheel drive weapon debut in China

On October 18th, 2011, the annual grand event of the Jeep® family was held in the desert of Dunhuang. At the ceremony, the replacement of the brand new powertrain's ultimate four-wheel drive weapon, the 2012 Jeep® Wrangler, made its debut in China, marking the completion of the Jeep® brand's full line of product updates in China and creating the strongest off-road vehicle product line in China.

As the flagship model product of the Jeep family, 2012 Wranglers debuted in China were equipped with the new 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine and 5-speed manual gearbox. Compared with the previous models, the power has increased by 40% to 284 horsepower and 10% to 347 N•m. At the same time, its fuel consumption has also been reduced. The fuel consumption per 100 kilometers has reached 11.9L.

The 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 all-aluminum engine uses a high-pressure molded aluminum cylinder that is 15 kg lighter than the previous 3.8-liter V6 engine with a cast iron cylinder. The more refined powertrain bracket system and newly equipped engine noise barriers and other soundproof components can effectively isolate noise from the engine and the road surface in the cabin. And this engine has already obtained the European V attestation at present, and meet the major emission standards of the whole world.

The 2012 Jeep Wrangler also upgraded the gearbox to a five-speed manual gearbox with better performance and smoother gear shifts. Combined with the 3.6-liter Pentastar engine, the Wrangler's road ride comfort was enhanced. The five-speed tiptronic gearbox can increase the speed range and improve fuel efficiency. Higher gearbox speeds improve acceleration performance as the engine maintains torque output. The 2012 Wrangler (two-door version) has an acceleration time of 0 to 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds, which is a reduction of 27% compared to the previous models. In addition, the five-speed tiptronic gearbox sets a lower head-speed ratio to achieve greater low-range output torque, thereby enhancing the Wrangler's off-road capability in extreme environments.

In terms of the core four-wheel-drive system, the 2012 Wrangler still retained the Rock-Trac mechanical time-sharing four-wheel drive system. The front, middle and rear differential locks equipped with the system can lock the front axle, rear axle or front and rear axles at the same time. In the event of loss of traction, as the system sensor detects tire slip, the integrated electronically controlled limited differential system instantly delivers the right amount of torque to one or more wheels with the highest traction, and all available engine torques are available when necessary. It is transmitted to a wheel.

The low gear ratio of 4:1 can increase the engine torque by 4 times when climbing, and greatly increase the traction. It can be solved at extremely low climbing speeds regardless of up and down steep slopes or crossing obstacles. The Wrangler Rubicon Electronics separates the balance bar and disconnects the front suspension balance bar, allowing the front suspension to achieve a larger stroke to ensure maximum four-wheel grip in extreme environments.

The 2012 Jeep Wrangler also deployed numerous industry-leading electronic security systems, many of which are Jeep-specific technologies. The hill starting assistance system HSA, that is, when the vehicle starts on a steep slope, the system can maintain the braking force level for a short time after the driver's foot leaves the brake pedal, and helps the driver to start the vehicle. At the same time, electronic anti-rollover system ERM, tire pressure monitoring system TPMS, etc. are also readily available.

The 2012 Jeep Wrangler is expected to be listed on the domestic market by the end of 2011 and will become a new player in the domestic off-road vehicle sector. Its arrival also marks that Jeep's full range of products have been completely upgraded in China. Jeep's products can cover different market segments ranging from full-size luxury SUVs and compact SUVs to professional four-wheel drive models.
