The "water special project" is called the "Water Pollution Control and Control Science and Technology Major Project". This project is listed as one of the 16 major scientific and technological special projects of the National Medium and Long-Term Scientific and Technological Development Plan Outline (2006-2020). The estimated budget of more than 300 billion yuan is the largest environmental research project ever implemented by the Chinese government.
