Chicago working fire, 10-25-14

This message comes from Eric Haak: --- Around 9:00 AM on Saturday (October 25), Engine Ladder 14 was heading down Chicago Avenue when they radioed in about spotting smoke in the area. They weren’t sure if it was from a car fire or a garage fire, so they were trying to locate the source. Within minutes, they updated everyone, saying they had confirmed a building fire on Karlov Avenue. I arrived shortly after the first responding units. It turned out to be quite a significant fire in the back of an occupied two-flat residence. It was a sobering reminder of how quickly these situations can escalate, especially in densely populated areas. Thankfully, no one was injured, but it’s a stark lesson in the importance of fire safety measures.
