Room Fire in Long Grove 4-3-12

This morning, the Long Grove Fire Protection District responded to a report of smoke at a building located at 2328 Nichols Road. Upon arrival, first responders noted light smoke and quickly identified a fire in the rear storage area of the structure. Despite the rapid response, the fire managed to fill the entire three-story building with smoke before it could be fully extinguished, which took approximately ten minutes. Mutual aid support was immediately requested upon the initial alarm, bringing in additional resources such as engines from neighboring districts including Palatine, Palatine Rural, and Lake Zurich. Buffalo Grove’s Tower 25 was dispatched as the truck company, while ambulances were sent in from Wheeling and Barrington to ensure all medical needs were covered. The images captured by Larry Shapiro offer a glimpse into the scene. In one shot, you can see Buffalo Grove Tower 25 and Long Grove Squad 55 positioned in front of the building, highlighting the coordinated efforts between different units. Another image shows Squad 55 actively deploying one hose line, indicating the swift action taken to control the situation. A third photograph reveals the location of the fire, which originated in the rear of the first floor of this multi-level building. Long Grove Tanker 55 can also be seen connected to a nearby hydrant, assisting in providing the necessary water supply for firefighting operations. Lastly, there's an image showcasing Buffalo Grove Tower 25 operating alongside reserve apparatus, further emphasizing the teamwork involved in managing this incident. Overall, while the fire was relatively small, it serves as a reminder of the importance of prompt emergency responses and the collaborative nature of firefighting efforts across multiple jurisdictions.
