Chicago working fire, 10-25-14

On Saturday morning, around 9:00 AM (October 25th), I received a call from Eric Haak, who informed me about an unfolding situation involving Tower Ladder 14. They were moving along Chicago Avenue when they contacted dispatch, mentioning visible smoke in the vicinity but no immediate reports of a fire. Initially, they suspected it might be related to either a vehicle or a garage fire, and they were attempting to locate its origin. Shortly afterward, they updated their status, confirming a building fire on Karlov Avenue. By the time I arrived, the first responders were already on the scene. It turned out there was quite a significant blaze in the rear of an occupied two-flat residence. The tenants were not home at the time. Attached are several photos taken by Eric Haak, capturing various aspects of the incident. The images depict firefighters carrying ladders toward the burning building, one firefighter positioned on a ladder with smoke venting from a window, thick smoke billowing from the apartment building, flames bursting through a window, and the chaotic scene as observed from the back porches. There’s also a striking image of a Chicago fire truck at the scene, alongside another photo showing more firefighting efforts. These visuals offer a glimpse into the intensity and urgency of the situation, highlighting the dedication and quick response of the firefighters working to contain the fire.
