SAN RAFAEL, Calif., November 16, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Welcome to Autodesk University! This week, Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK), invites visionaries from all corners of the globe—designers, engineers, builders, and creators—to join us for the company's very first digital conference experience: Autodesk University (AU) 2020. Spanning four dynamic days, from Tuesday, November 17 to Friday, November 20, 2020, this interactive event encourages participants to reimagine possibilities across industries like construction, manufacturing, architecture, engineering, and media creation.
Historically, Autodesk’s annual AU conferences have been held in person across various locations worldwide. However, this year’s transition to a digital platform was motivated by the unprecedented challenges brought on by the global pandemic. The virtual format ensures attendees can explore novel approaches to imagining, designing, and creating while keeping everyone’s health and safety as a top priority.
Lisa Campbell, Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President of Business Strategy and Marketing at Autodesk, expressed excitement about the shift to a fully digital platform. “Autodesk University has always been an excellent opportunity for us to engage with customers and partners. Even though this year marks our first entirely digital AU experience, it remains business as usual. The digital format opens up exciting new ways to connect and learn from one another. Solving problems and fostering innovation within our industries is what our extended community excels at, and I am thrilled to imagine what’s possible together, regardless of where we are in the world.â€
Day One of AU 2020 begins with an eight-hour continuous live broadcast featuring a general session led by Autodesk President and CEO Andrew Anagnost alongside notable guests including BDP Engineering Principal James Hepburn, Decathlon Advanced Design Project Leader Charles Cambianica, and LAIKA Studios VFX Supervisor Steve Emerson. Together, they will delve into how industries have embraced technology in 2020 and the pivotal role data, automation, and insights play in empowering innovators to push boundaries.
The day continues with three industry-focused keynotes exploring how Autodesk’s technology empowers workforces to sustainably thrive amidst constant change. During the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) keynote, Autodesk leadership and Norconsult Technology Manager Marius Jablonskis will discuss transformative shifts in the sector this year and how teams are turning challenges into opportunities. Next, Hyundai Vice President and New Horizons Studio Founding Director John Suh will address the adoption of technologies such as generative design in the design and manufacturing (D&M) industry, along with strategies for continuous digital transformation. Finally, attendees will hear from LAIKA Studios VFX Supervisor Steve Emerson on how Autodesk’s latest media and entertainment (M&E) tech fosters scalable connections between teams, studios, and ecosystems.
The virtual conference runs through Friday, November 20, offering three full days of classes, roundtables, panels, and industry meetings. Those unable to catch the live broadcasts can revisit sessions later via on-demand viewing.
In true AU fashion, the expo has also gone digital. Available 24/7 during AU and accessible for 30 days post-event, this year’s virtual expo showcases over 100 solution providers and innovative technologies driving progress in AEC, D&M, and M&E. Attendees can explore interactive booths, watch videos, download resources, attend demos, and connect directly with experts.
Autodesk continues to partner with entrepreneurs and innovators who aim to create a positive, sustainable impact. During AU 2020, the Autodesk Foundation will match up to $50,000 in donations to two impactful organizations: Splash, which delivers safe water, sanitation, and hygiene solutions to vulnerable communities affected by the pandemic, and MASS Design Group, a nonprofit committed to building architecture centered on justice and human dignity.
For the sixth consecutive year, AU will be a Carbon Neutral event. This commitment aligns with Autodesk’s broader goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2020 through investments in efficiency, renewable energy, and carbon offset projects. The virtual format further reinforces this commitment by minimizing the environmental footprint associated with traditional in-person events.
Stay tuned to the Autodesk blog, ADSK News, starting November 17, 2020, for updates on AU 2020 announcements, initiatives, and developments.
