Autodesk to Acquire Cloud Based Estimating Company ProEst

SAN FRANCISCO, December 16, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Today, Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK) announced its plan to acquire ProEst, a cloud-based estimating solution designed to help construction teams generate estimates, conduct digital takeoffs, prepare detailed reports and proposals, and manage bid-day processes. By integrating ProEst with Autodesk Construction Cloud—a comprehensive construction management platform that connects teams, data, and workflows across the entire building lifecycle—Autodesk aims to enhance its preconstruction offerings. This acquisition will enable construction teams to handle all their essential preconstruction and construction workflows on a single, unified platform. ![Autodesk to Acquire Cloud-Based Estimating Company ProEst](http://bsg-i.nbxc.com/blog/668134683d6a40ee5b979461d7552763.jpg) ProEst, with clients like Geisinger, O’Brien Construction, Vantis, and Oswald, quickly and efficiently transforms project scopes into material, labor, and equipment costs. This capability not only accelerates the estimation process and strengthens bid submissions but also minimizes project risks and boosts the likelihood of securing work. With its cloud-based solution, ProEst allows customers to access estimating information anytime, anywhere, and import third-party cost databases to optimize workflows. By acquiring ProEst, Autodesk Construction Cloud will bolster its industry-leading cost management tools, providing teams with greater visibility into cost tracking and helping ensure project success. “Safety, staying within budget, and meeting deadlines are our top priorities at Bartlett Cocke General Contractors,” said Luis Berumen, vice president of innovation and technology. “Autodesk Construction Cloud has already helped us collaborate more effectively across different stages and workflows. Adding ProEst’s cloud-based estimating capabilities will further enhance our ability to deliver high-quality projects efficiently.” Manny Innamorato, CIO of the New York City School Construction Authority, added, “ProEst allows us to generate estimates faster, more consistently, and with higher accuracy throughout the design phase and in collaboration with our partners. As a public entity, our mission is to build and modernize New York City schools in a responsible, cost-effective way while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and integrity. With the integration of ProEst into Autodesk Construction Cloud, we anticipate a smoother connection between our estimation data and downstream construction workflows, ensuring we stay on track to meet our goals.” ProEst will become part of Autodesk Construction Cloud’s growing suite of solutions, helping teams reduce rework, boost productivity, increase automation, and speed up project delivery. The existing Autodesk Construction Cloud solutions include: - **Autodesk Takeoff**: Empowers estimators to perform both 2D and 3D quantification workflows. - **Autodesk BIM Collaborate**: Enables project teams to align on and execute design intent by managing design collaboration and coordination workflows from a single solution. - **Autodesk Build**: Connects project, cost, quality, safety, and field collaboration workflows in a user-friendly solution. - **BuildingConnected**: Centralizes and streamlines the bidding process to help teams find trade partners, identify suitable subcontractors, and evaluate bids. BuildingConnected, part of Autodesk Construction Cloud, boasts over one million construction professionals. It also includes TradeTapp, which uses machine learning and AI to qualify contractors and mitigate project risks. “Estimation plays a crucial role in downstream construction workflows, yet it's often a fragmented and manual process that leaves room for costly errors,” said Jim Lynch, senior vice president and general manager of Autodesk Construction Solutions. “By acquiring ProEst, construction teams can link accurate estimates with the rest of their project data to reduce the risk of cost and schedule overruns and achieve successful project outcomes. ProEst shares our vision for digital transformation in construction, and we're excited to bring their leading estimating solution to Autodesk Construction Cloud.” Jeff Gerardi, ProEst’s founder and CEO, commented, “Our aim has always been to reinvent the construction estimating process and provide the most advanced functionality available. We’ve moved teams away from paper documents and spreadsheets and, through our cloud-based platform, broken down on-premise software silos with seamless integration. We fully support Autodesk’s vision of connecting construction from start to finish, and we’re thrilled to join an exceptional preconstruction offering to bring that vision to life.” In recent years, Autodesk has made significant investments in construction technology, including Aurigo Software’s capital planning tools and Bridgit’s workforce allocation and resource planning solution. They also acquired Assemble, BuildingConnected, PlanGrid, and Pype in acquisitions totaling more than $1.1 billion. **Business Outlook** The transaction is subject to standard closing conditions and is expected to conclude during Autodesk’s fourth quarter of fiscal 2022, ending January 31, 2022. The acquisition will have no material effect on Autodesk’s fourth quarter or fiscal year 2022 guidance provided on November 23, 2021. **About Autodesk** Autodesk is reshaping how the world designs and builds.
