WetaM cloud service to unleash Weta Digital’s Academy Award-winning proprietary tools powered by Autodesk Maya
It's hard to choose a favorite world created by the amazing artists at Weta Digital. From the lush, vibrant landscapes of Pandora and its Na'vi inhabitants in "Avatar," to the sweeping vistas and mythical creatures of Middle Earth in "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, each project is a visual masterpiece. More recently, I've been truly impressed by the redesigned Steppenwolf from Zack Snyder's "Justice League."
Behind these cinematic wonders are Weta Digital’s own cutting-edge visual effects tools. Known for their groundbreaking technology developed through years of research and development, these tools are used exclusively by Weta's in-house artists. But that's about to change.
At Autodesk, we're excited to partner with Weta Digital to bring their powerful technology and creative workflows to artists around the world through WetaM — the first 3D visual effects pipeline available as a cloud service. Built on Maya’s open API, WetaM turns the studio’s exclusive tools into a subscription-based cloud solution, making them accessible to creators everywhere.
With WetaM, artists will be able to tap into the same advanced visual design and automation that helped create iconic moments in "Game of Thrones" Season 8 and brought giants to life in the film adaptation of Roald Dahl's "The BFG." It's an incredible step forward for the industry and for creative expression.

I'm incredibly excited about the direction the industry is heading. The demand for high-quality, visually rich content has never been higher, and it's only going to grow.

By bringing Weta’s best-in-class toolsets together with Maya’s powerful platform, they're taking creativity to the cloud — and to more artists than ever before.
