The Finnish Navy's new high-speed Watercat M18 AMC landing craft will be powered by Scania's 16-liter V8 diesel engine.
It is reported that the new landing craft designed and built by the Marine Alutech shipyard has a displacement of 29 tons and a length of 19.3 meters. The landing craft has a wide range of uses including military and medical emergency transportation, evacuation and landing missions. As each landing craft will be equipped with 2 Scania diesel engines, the single unit power is 662 kW and the speed is 2300 rpm. It is driven by the water jet propulsion system, so the landing speed of the landing craft can reach 35 knots, and the maximum speed can exceed 40 knots. The range is 200 nautical miles.
The first 12 landing crafts will be equipped with 24 V8 diesel engines, and will choose to order more diesel engines in the future.
