Autodesk expands Fusion capabilities, leveraging AI to unlock automation and creativity across design and make

In the manufacturing industry, significant transformations are taking place. The global pandemic and subsequent economic fluctuations have revealed vulnerabilities across the entire manufacturing ecosystem. As a result, manufacturers have been forced to restructure and reimagine their supply chains in real time. Combined with rising consumer expectations, an increasing skills gap, and the rapid pace of technological change, these challenges have left many feeling uncertain about the future. Yet, despite these obstacles—or perhaps because of them—manufacturing continues to grow globally. Innovation often emerges from constraints. Over the past few years, one thing has become clear: to take advantage of this growth and remain competitive, manufacturers must embrace digital technologies. Cloud computing, automation, and artificial intelligence (AI) offer companies the chance not only to manage but also to thrive in times of uncertainty. At Autodesk, we've always been at the forefront of transformative technology shifts. Fusion was launched ten years ago with the vision of integrating the traditionally siloed processes of product design and manufacturing. We continue to invest in delivering that vision by unifying design, simulation, electronics, manufacturing, and factory operations into a single, fluid environment for businesses of all sizes—and we're not stopping here. Last year, we introduced the Fusion Industry Cloud, built on our Design and Make Platform. This end-to-end, connected solution unifies people, data, technologies, and workflows from product design to manufacturing, all the way through shop floor operations. **Fusion Industry Cloud: A Powerful Solution to Streamline Entire Design and Manufacturing Workflows** Fusion revolutionizes the way organizations design and manufacture by eliminating the barriers created by disconnected tools that hinder information flow between teams. As the first platform to integrate CAD, CAM, CAE, and PCB design capabilities while connecting PLM, PDM, and MES solutions, Fusion streamlines processes throughout the entire product development and manufacturing lifecycle. Traditionally, manufacturers relied on multiple tools across different phases of product development, leading to numerous handoffs between teams. With Fusion, everything is brought together in one place. Changes made in one workflow are instantly reflected everywhere, ensuring no one works with outdated models. This saves time and reduces headaches. Autodesk’s cloud-based data model is at the heart of Fusion. It enables customers to automate and streamline their workflows. Our AI uses the same cloud data to eliminate repetitive tasks, allowing employees to focus on more creative and high-value work. Today, data flows seamlessly between Revit and Inventor, Inventor and Fusion, and even between Inventor and AutoCAD. And with our Autodesk data model APIs, partners and third-party developers can also build for Fusion. **AI from the Design Studio to the Shop Floor** Fusion continues to leverage the power of AI across every stage of the product development lifecycle. It's part of our DNA. We were the first to introduce generative design for manufacturing in Fusion over six years ago, and now we’re unlocking new opportunities to automate repetitive tasks, analyze shop floor operations, and enhance creativity using AI. We recently acquired BlankAI, bringing us cutting-edge generative AI technology that supports industrial designers in creating 3D concepts in milliseconds. This technology will debut in our automotive design studio tools, helping designers rapidly generate new concepts based on a company’s existing design libraries. Another innovation is Automated Drawings, which translates 3D models into fully dimensioned 2D drawings with just a click. This feature will significantly reduce the time engineers spend on documentation, which currently takes up to 80% of their time. Additionally, the CloudNC CAM Assist Automation Add-in for Fusion allows users to translate 3D models of 3-axis components into machining strategies in seconds, reducing tool programming times by up to 80%. **Expanding Functionality Through Partnerships and Acquisitions** We’re excited to announce new features that enhance the value of Fusion and improve design and manufacturing workflows. - **Cadence Integration**: Working with Cadence, a leader in electronic systems design tools, we’ve integrated their PCB design capabilities directly into Fusion, enabling seamless data flow between the two platforms. - **Acquisition of FlexSim**: Autodesk has acquired FlexSim, a provider of discrete event simulation technology that helps optimize production processes. This integration strengthens our ability to support digital factories and logistics centers. - **Configurations**: The new configurations feature in Fusion allows for the creation of multiple product variants without the need for separate files. Each configuration is stored in a single cloud database, making it faster, easier, and more efficient to manage. **Rivian Gains a Competitive Edge** This new way of working is already giving companies like Rivian a competitive advantage. Rivian used Fusion for rapid design and prototyping, as well as Autodesk Revit for facility design. They also combined Autodesk Alias with VRED virtual reality to provide immersive design reviews for their distributed teams. By leveraging the cloud to connect data across the entire organization, Rivian increased operational efficiency, boosting agility, innovation, and creativity. **An Increasingly Powerful Fusion Offering** Fusion is more capable and valuable than ever before. We are adjusting the pricing of Fusion and its extensions to reflect the added value and customer feedback. Full details are available on the Fusion Blog. As always, we are committed to delivering the best possible design and manufacturing solutions at exceptional value. These are just some of the updates we’re sharing at AU. To learn more about how we’re building the Fusion Industry Cloud to empower your manufacturing teams, I invite you to join our keynotes, theater talks, and classes. **Safe Harbor Statement** This press release contains forward-looking statements regarding Autodesk AI and the Autodesk Design and Make Platform.
