A couple of photos from the Wheaton 3rd Alarm fire that happened today at 976 Tara Court. The flames initially broke out at the back of the house and spread up the wall and into the attic area. It was on a cul-de-sac, so the second engine had quite a hike to reach the hydrant, roughly 1000 feet away. All the crews had to walk in from Blanchard carrying their tools and gear in weather that was around 98 degrees Fahrenheit.
Attached you’ll find some images taken by John Tulipano. In one shot, you can see the fire raging from the peak of the cedar shake roof. Another photo shows Wheaton's Seagrave engine positioned in front of the house. There’s also an image featuring tower ladders from both Wheaton and Glen Elgin being utilized at the scene. Despite the challenging conditions, firefighters worked hard under the sweltering heat to bring the situation under control.
The fire occurred at the very end of a dead-end street, which meant responders had a lengthy walk just to get to the location. This posed additional challenges as they carried all necessary equipment in temperatures nearing triple digits. John Tulipano captured these moments, providing a glimpse into the intensity and effort required during such incidents. His photographs highlight not only the severity of the blaze but also the dedication of those who fought it.
