Skokie Engine 17 rehabbed

Jef Rudolph recently reported that Skokie Engine 17 has finally returned from its stay at Renewed Performance, Inc. (RPI), where it underwent significant refurbishments. The fire engine received extensive bodywork and paint repairs, along with a brand-new LED lighting system. Additionally, there were minor adjustments made to the pump mechanism to ensure optimal performance. All things considered, the vehicle is expected to be back in active service by next week. Attached are several images capturing different aspects of the transformation. One photo, taken by Jeff Rudolph, showcases the front of the engine with its updated grille now featuring the unit number, alongside the newly installed LED lights. This image gives a clear sense of how the vehicle's appearance has evolved from its previous state. Another shot highlights the rear of Engine 17, which now sports modern chevron striping—a distinct upgrade that enhances both visibility and aesthetics. Jeff Rudolph once again captured this compelling detail. For those interested in the finer points of the makeover, another image illustrates the extent of the changes. Larry Shapiro’s photograph reveals how the engine looked before heading off to RPI. At that time, it had a simple grille design and conventional lighting fixtures. Furthermore, the door seals and “Skokie” decals have undergone modifications since the engine first rolled out of the factory. These subtle yet meaningful updates reflect the continuous efforts to maintain and improve the fleet. Overall, these transformations not only breathe new life into Skokie Engine 17 but also underscore the department's commitment to ensuring their vehicles remain cutting-edge and functional. As Engine 17 prepares to return to duty, it stands as a testament to the dedication and craftsmanship involved in keeping emergency response equipment reliable and efficient.
