Autodesk Delivers More Flexible, Pay as You Go Access to Design, Engineering and Entertainment Creation Tools

Autodesk, a leading software company based in San Francisco, has introduced a new flexible payment model for its customers. Now, users can choose to pay as they go for the latest versions of Autodesk’s Design and Creation Suites, including industry favorites like Autodesk 3ds Max, Autodesk Maya, and the newly launched Autodesk Maya LT. This marks a significant shift from traditional licensing models, offering monthly, quarterly, or annual rental options. This new approach allows designers, engineers, and visual effects artists to access top-tier software without large upfront costs. It makes it easier than ever to start projects, scale up quickly, and manage expenses more efficiently. Customers who opt for rental plans will also enjoy benefits similar to those of Autodesk Subscription members, such as access to the latest updates, select Autodesk 360 cloud services, and basic technical support. Andrew Anagnost, Senior Vice President of Industry Strategy and Marketing at Autodesk, highlighted the importance of this change. “Our customers have been asking for more flexibility and choice,” he said. “We believe these rental plans will be especially appealing to freelancers, startups, and businesses that operate on a project-based model. This model ensures that our users can stay competitive with high-quality tools while only paying for what they need, when they need it.” In today’s subscription-driven economy, consumers are increasingly favoring access over ownership. Lisa Gansky, author of *The Mesh: Why the Future of Business Is Sharing*, notes, “We’re seeing a shift where access to goods, services, and talent is becoming more valuable than ownership.” This trend aligns perfectly with Autodesk’s new rental offerings. Will Cohen, CEO of UK-based VFX studio Milk, shared his perspective. “The visual effects industry has been tough lately, and companies are looking for new ways to operate. Autodesk’s rental plans offer much-needed flexibility, allowing us to scale up or down depending on the project. This could really help transform how we work and compete.” The new rental plans will be available starting September 16, 2013. They apply to a wide range of Autodesk products, including AutoCAD Design Suite, AutoCAD Inventor LT Suite, AutoCAD Revit LT Suite, Building Design Suite, Entertainment Creation Suite, Factory Design Suite, Infrastructure Design Suite, Plant Design Suite, Product Design Suite, Maya, 3ds Max, and Maya LT.
