Late on Monday night (January 28, 2019), the Palatine Fire Department received numerous calls about a house fire at 635 E. Thornhill Drive. As emergency vehicles were en route, a visible plume of smoke prompted them to upgrade the response to a Code 4 Working Fire. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered flames rapidly spreading up the exterior of the building in the B-sector. Thanks to swift action, they managed to control the fire before it caused significant damage inside the structure.
In addition to all available units from Palatine, an engine from Arlington Heights and a Buffalo Grove ambulance also joined the operation. The situation was brought under control relatively quickly, limiting the spread of the fire. The images below, captured by Larry Shapiro, provide a glimpse of the damage sustained by the property.
