The 15 woodworking technicians from the Gsechs University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg showcased a very elegant wine cabinet series made of teak/oak, cork and slate. In 2018, the IMM Germany Cologne International Furniture Fair was held from January 15th to 21st. Many companies and designers showcase their novel designs to audiences around the world. The 15 students from the Gsechs University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg also created and presented their work – a wine cabinet series called Dolio, which is derived from the Latin word “dolium†(barrel). The project concept of this series stems from a task with the theme of “extraordinary openingâ€. After trying out various prototypes, they designed and built 20 pieces of small pieces of furniture in a few months. The Dolio is a vertical wine cabinet with five bottles of wine. A curved slate-finished door with steel fittings can be rotated 360° around the main body of the wine cabinet to create a closed space. In order to ensure smooth sliding of the revolving doors, they used iglidur B160 wear strips with high wear resistance and low coefficient of friction on the steel fittings. In addition, the students decided to make the springs that lock the door. Jorrit Burmeister said: "After testing, we decided to use igus's iglidur I150 wear-resistant wire to print engineering plastic spring clips. This engineering plastic is sturdy and adaptable, and it is extremely wear-resistant and can withstand the continuous load of Dolio wine cabinets. ""
Easy-to-process, lubrication-free wear parts
In addition to the iglidur I150, the sports plastics expert igus has five additional lubrication-free and maintenance-free iglidur wear-resistant wires for applications in different industries, such as those requiring permanent load or chemical resistance.
