The NGK spark plug has announced that it will spend 28 billion yen (about US$365 million) to build a new factory in Gifu Prefecture, Japan, to produce ceramic insulators for spark plugs.
NGK expects 150 new employees will be recruited after the completion of the new plant, and will start production in April 2014, producing 13.5 million ceramic insulators per spark plug per month.
The new plant will increase the annual production capacity of NGK spark plugs from 700 million to 900 million. NGK's new plant to increase production capacity is mainly to meet the growing demand for spark plugs in emerging markets.
