Currently, Chinese and Korean shipyards are building these container ships for Maersk Line. After signing these contracts, the latest 47 new container ships of the Maersk Line fleet will be equipped with the Wärtsilä Nacos Platinum navigation system, which proves the success of its market application. Wärtsilä will also provide a power management system and console, as well as peripheral communications facilities. The equipment provided by Wärtsilä will be delivered to the shipyard in April 2016.
It is reported that Wärtsilä's integrated Nacos Platinum system includes navigation, automation, power and propulsion control systems. By integrating all the functions into a single system, it is possible to navigate, control and monitor the ship at different locations on the ship. This truly versatile operator station will have unparalleled flexibility and convenience.
Increasing the level of automation and the extensive connectivity of key ship information sources will provide opportunities to further reduce ship operating costs. Enhanced data has the potential to support these cost savings and become a competitive advantage in the future.
