Changes in Registration of Civil Vehicles in the Decade after China's Accession to the WTO

In the golden decade of the development of the automobile industry, the registration of China's civil automobiles increased from 3.37 million units in 2002 to 16.2249 million units in 2011, with an average compound annual growth rate of nearly 20%. Among them, the registered amount of civil automobiles increased the most in 2009, and then the growth rate gradually slowed down. In 2011, the increase was less than 1 million units.

In 2009, mainly under the automobile stimulating policies such as "car to the countryside", "purchase tax relief", "replacement of old", etc., the registration of China's civil motor vehicles totaled 12.4897 million, which was nearly 70% higher than that in 2008 (68.5%). Increased more than 5 million vehicles. Based on this high base, the registered amount of civil automobiles in 2010 still achieved a high growth rate of 22.8%, but after the 2011 stimulus policy, the growth rate slowed to 5.9%, an increase of only 909,500 units, less than one million vehicles.

In East China, the number of civil registrations in 2011 was 522 million, accounting for 32%

In all major regions of the country, the number of registrations of civil cars in 2011 was in descending order of East China, Northeast China, Central China, Southwest China, South China, Northwest China, and Northeast China. Among them, the highest registered amount in East China was 5.2228 million in 2011, far higher than other regions, accounting for 32.2%. The registrations of civil automobiles in North China and Central China were 2,361,700 and 2,031,300 respectively. In other regions, the registration of civil cars is between 100 and 2 million vehicles.

Among the 31 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the central government, the top ten rankings of civil car registrations in 2011 were Shandong, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Hebei, Henan, Sichuan, Liaoning and Anhui. And Shanxi Province. Among them, the first five provinces have registered more than one million civilian vehicles, and all other provinces have less than one million vehicles. Shandong Province registered 1,397,700 civil vehicles in 2011, 1,37,550,000 in Guangdong Province and 1,311,200 in Jiangsu Province.

It is worth mentioning that in 2011, the number of car registrations for four municipalities in China was within the range of 300,000 to 400,000 vehicles. Among them, the highest in Beijing was 400,700 vehicles, but it was significantly lower than the 913,400 vehicles in 2010. The reasons are related to the implementation of the purchase restriction policy in Beijing in that year. Tianjin, Shanghai and Chongqing registered a total of 326,800 vehicles, 311,100 vehicles and 305,300 vehicles in 2011.
