Accelerate Heads to Toronto to Explore the Future of Making

It’s time to celebrate! Accelerate is turning five this year—and what better way to mark the occasion than by expanding our horizons? This year, we’re heading to Toronto, a city known for its innovation and creativity. The event will take place on September 19th and 20th, and it promises to be more exciting than ever. We’ll be diving deep into the technologies that are shaping the future of product development, including generative design and 3D printing. These tools are helping bridge the gap between design and manufacturing, making the entire process smarter, faster, and more efficient.

The conference will feature three main tracks: Design, Make, and Manage. Each track will explore how manufacturers can innovate at every stage of the product lifecycle. Whether you're a designer, engineer, or business leader, there's something here for everyone. And with Autodesk’s new office in the MaRS Discovery District as our host, we’re surrounded by inspiration and cutting-edge technology.

This year’s lineup includes some of the most inspiring voices in the industry. One of them is Denise Schindler, a German para-cyclist who has overcome incredible challenges. After losing her leg in an accident, she discovered cycling and became a top athlete. With the help of Autodesk, she helped redesign her prosthetic using 3D scanning and additive manufacturing—making it more comfortable, efficient, and cost-effective. Her story is a powerful reminder of how technology can change lives.

Stephen Goetzinger of Steelcase will be a featured speaker at Accelerate 2018 in Toronto.

On the second day, we’ll hear from Stephen Goetzinger of Steelcase, who will discuss how generative design and virtual reality are transforming the way they create office spaces. His insights will give attendees a glimpse into the future of work environments.

And speaking of generative design—this powerful tool is now more accessible than ever. Starting October 7, all Fusion 360 commercial subscribers will have access to the full suite of generative design features, including advanced simulation and CAM tools. This means more users can leverage AI-driven design to create innovative solutions quickly and efficiently.

Another highlight of the event is Roboy, a humanoid robot developed by students and researchers from the Technical University of Munich. Using generative design and Fusion 360, the team improved the robot’s functionality and performance. At Accelerate, we’ll hear directly from the project lead, Rafael Hostettler, about how these tools helped bring Roboy to life.

Finally, we’ll also hear from companies like Aclara, RAMLAB, and Hosokawa, who are using Autodesk’s cloud-based tools to streamline their manufacturing processes. From faster prototyping to better collaboration, these stories show just how transformative digital tools can be.
