Guangdong Chaozhou Dam Safety Monitoring System Automated Upgrade Project Passed Acceptance

On November 8, 2018, an important event took place in Chaozhou as the Chaozhou Water Supply Hub Dam Safety Monitoring System Automation Upgrade Project was officially launched. Representatives from multiple key organizations attended the meeting, including the Chaozhou Water Supply Hub Management Office of Guangdong Province, Guangdong Provincial Keyuan Engineering Supervision Consulting Company, the Water Resources Department Dam Safety Management Center, and the Hydropower Company. This project marks a significant step forward in enhancing the safety and efficiency of the dam. The Guangdong Chaozhou Water Supply Hub is strategically located near Liangxikou, where the Hanjiang River flows through the east and west. It is situated about 4 kilometers from Chaozhou City and serves as a critical component in the rational allocation of water resources across the East, West, and Beixi regions. The hub integrates power generation with other functions such as navigation, flood control, and environmental protection. As an I-type project, it features main structures rated at level 2, including sluices, a powerhouse, a ship lock, and an earth dam. In 2017, the China Government Procurement Network announced a tender for the automation upgrade of the dam safety monitoring system. The project scope included four main components: external deformation observation, seepage and vibration monitoring, mesoscopic instrument access, and the overall automatic monitoring system. With a project duration of 10 months, the contract was eventually awarded to Nanjing NARI Group, a leading company in the field of power equipment and automation. The project involves the procurement, transportation, installation, and testing of all required monitoring instruments and equipment, along with the development and commissioning of the monitoring software and automation system. It also includes civil works, data collection and analysis, reporting, handover of facilities, training, and long-term maintenance. The contractor is responsible for delivering all necessary materials and ensuring the project’s successful completion. Nanjing NARI Group Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the State Grid Corporation of China, is known for its comprehensive operations and leadership in power automation, protection, information technology, and smart electrical equipment. The company has the technical expertise and resources to successfully implement complex engineering projects like this one. During the project acceptance meeting, the inspection team conducted on-site assessments, reviewed quality reports, and examined project archives. They discussed and approved the unit project, which received an excellent quality rating. This milestone signifies the successful completion of the automation upgrade and the improved safety management of the hub. The implementation of the automation upgrade has equipped the dam with intelligent "eyes and ears," significantly enhancing the safety and reliability of the structure. For Nanjing NARI Group, this project further solidified its reputation and expanded its influence in the industry.
