Outdoor Grilling with the A-Series

The PGS "A" (Aluminum) Series of grills are specially made using a mix of durable permanent mold aluminum, commercial-grade stainless steel, brass, and porcelain-coated steel parts to give you a top-notch cooking experience. These grills are the result of over 40 years of expertise in selling and creating high-quality outdoor cooking equipment. The A-Series is designed to be versatile and reliable for all your grilling needs.

The A-Series comes in two sizes: the A-30 and A-40. Both models offer a wide range of mounting options—both fixed and portable—as well as various accessories. They can be used with either natural gas or liquid propane, making them flexible for different setups and preferences.

Choosing a Location

These grills are built for outdoor use only. Gas appliances produce carbon monoxide, which can be dangerous if not properly ventilated. Never operate your A-Series grill indoors, in a garage, RV, boat, or any enclosed space.

When choosing a spot for your grill, make sure it's at least 30 inches away from any flammable materials and avoid areas with heavy foot traffic. This helps prevent accidents and ensures safe operation.

Lighting Your Grill

Before lighting, always check the gas hose and connections for wear or damage. If there’s any sign of damage, replace the hose before use. Open the lid fully before lighting to prevent gas buildup that could cause flare-ups.

  1. Do not stand over the grill when lighting it.
  2. Open the lid and check the inside to ensure everything looks normal.
  3. Set both control knobs to OFF. Either knob can be used to light the grill.
  4. Turn on the gas at the tank, then set one knob to Medium and press the ignitor button. You should hear the ignitor clicking, and one burner should light within four seconds. Then turn the other knob to HI, and the second burner will ignite automatically.

Make sure the flame is steady and at the right heat level. It’s a good idea to watch the grill for a couple of minutes after lighting to catch any small leaks or issues early.

Grilling Tips

  1. When using your new A-Series grill for the first time, run both burners on high for 10–15 minutes to burn off any oils or residues. Before turning it on, lightly oil the cooking grids with vegetable or safflower oil for better performance.
  2. Burning the unit after each use is not necessary and can actually shorten its lifespan. Instead, preheat the grill for 5–8 minutes before cooking to clean off grease and residue. After cooling, gently scrub the grids with a nylon pad to remove stuck-on food.

Remember to lightly oil the cooking grid before each use for optimal performance and flavor.

You can clean the stainless steel cooking grids with a brass wire brush. Always wash them thoroughly before using. Never put the cooking grids, rock grates, or rocks in a self-cleaning oven.

Safety & the A-Series

At AEI, we’re committed to providing a safe and enjoyable outdoor cooking experience. Natural gas and propane are both safe when used correctly. Never use natural gas in a propane-only grill or vice versa. Also, never connect an unregulated gas cylinder or supply to your grill.

Most homes have a regulator near the gas meter. If your grill valves are accidentally left on, opening the tank valve may trigger the excess flow device, which stops the gas flow. If this happens, turn off the grill valves, then the tank valve. Wait two minutes, then open the tank valve before turning the grill back on. Always open the tank valve first, then the grill valves.
