Outdoor Grilling with the A-Series

The PGS "A" (Aluminum) Series of grills are built to last, combining durable permanent mold aluminum, commercial-grade stainless steel, brass, and porcelain-coated steel components. These grills are designed for performance and aesthetics, offering a reliable outdoor cooking experience. With over 40 years of expertise in selling top-tier outdoor cooking products, the A-Series is the result of that knowledge, crafted to meet all your grilling needs.

The A-Series comes in two sizes: the A-30 and A-40. Both models offer a wide range of mounting options, whether you're looking for a fixed or portable setup. They can be used with either natural gas or liquid propane, making them versatile for different setups and preferences.

Choosing a Location

Designed for outdoor use, the A-Series grills should never be used indoors. Like all gas appliances, they produce carbon monoxide, which can be dangerous if not properly ventilated. Never operate your A-Series grill inside your home, garage, RV, boat, or any enclosed space.

When placing your grill, ensure it’s at least 30 inches away from any flammable materials and keep it away from high-traffic areas. This helps prevent accidents and ensures safe operation.

Lighting Your Grill

Before lighting your grill, always inspect the gas hose and connections for wear or damage. If you notice any issues, replace the hose before use. Always open the lid completely before lighting to avoid gas buildup, which could lead to flare-ups.

  1. Do not stand above the grill when lighting the burners.
  2. Open the lid and check the interior for normal conditions.
  3. Set the control knobs to the OFF position. Either knob can be used for lighting.
  4. Turn on the gas supply and set one knob to Medium. Press the ignitor button gently. You should hear the click, and one burner should light within four seconds. The second burner will ignite automatically when you turn the other knob to HI.

Once lit, make sure the flame is steady and at the correct height. It's wise to watch the grill for a couple of minutes after lighting to catch any small leaks or spider fires caused by blockages.

Grilling Tips

  1. For the first use, light both burners on HI for 10–15 minutes to burn off any oils on new surfaces. Lightly coat the cooking grids with vegetable oil or spray oil before using them again.
  2. Burning the unit after each use is not recommended. Excessive burning may damage the grill over time. Instead, preheat the grill for 5–8 minutes before each use to burn off grease and residue. After cooking, let the grids cool and then clean them with a nylon pad to remove stuck-on food.

Remember to lightly oil the cooking grid with a spray oil, vegetable oil, or safflower oil before each use.

You can clean the stainless steel cooking grids with a brass wire brush. Make sure to wash them thoroughly before using them again. Never place the cooking grids, rock grates, or rocks in a self-cleaning oven.

Safety & the A-Series

At AEI, we’re committed to providing a safe and enjoyable outdoor cooking experience. Natural gas and propane are both safe when used correctly. Never use natural gas in a propane-only unit or vice versa. Also, never connect an unregulated propane tank or natural gas line directly to your grill.

Most homes with natural gas have a regulator near the meter. In case the grill valves are accidentally left on, the excess flow device will shut off the gas. If this happens, turn the grill valves to OFF, then the tank valve. Wait two minutes before turning the tank valve back on, and only then turn the grill valves to ON.
