3-Alarm fire and EMS Box Alarm in Cicero, 9-19-16 (more)

I just got back from covering a significant 3-alarm fire and emergency response in Cicero on September 19, 2016. The scene was intense, and I managed to capture some powerful images that really convey the scale and urgency of the situation. The first shot shows firefighters fully enveloped in thick smoke as they battle the blaze. It’s a dramatic reminder of how quickly conditions can change during an active fire. Another image highlights the impressive work of the elevated master streams, which played a crucial role in containing the flames. You can almost feel the heat radiating off the scene. There’s also a striking photo of a firefighter perched high on a ladder, his face obscured by smoke and fire. It’s a testament to the bravery and skill required in moments like these. In another shot, you see the commanding presence of Cicero Fire Department Chief Rick Moravacek, who was overseeing the operation with calm authority despite the chaos around him. One of my favorite captures is of several firefighters working together, their determination evident even through the protective gear. And then there’s a quieter moment—a single fire truck positioned strategically, its lights cutting through the darkness while the team prepares for the next phase of the operation. These images don’t begin to tell the full story of what happened that night, but they offer a glimpse into the relentless effort and teamwork involved. If you want to see more photos from this incident, head over to firescenes.net. There’s an entire gallery dedicated to capturing the intensity of the scene. As always, my goal is to provide a visual narrative that honors the dedication of those who put themselves in harm's way to protect others. Stay safe out there!
