Larry Shapiro sent this update:
Buffalo Grove police and firefighters were dispatched to 667 Bernard Drive on Saturday afternoon (10/31/20) following a report of a dryer fire. Upon arrival, crews encountered significant smoke and the incident was escalated to a Code 4 Working Fire. It appears that the fire initially started within the dryer and quickly spread, filling the entire split-level home with smoke. Units on the scene included Engine 26, Engine 27, Quint 25, Squad 25, Ambulance 25, Ambulance 26, and Battalion 4. They received support from Long Grove Tanker 55 and Battalion 55; Arlington Heights Engine 4, Ambulance 4, and Battalion 1; Prospect Heights Engine 39; Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Squad 51; Palatine Engine 82; and the Buffalo Grove EMA Mobile Com Unit.
Strict decontamination protocols and comprehensive COVID-19 safety measures were implemented for both the firefighters and the family members present at the scene.
Here’s a glimpse of what happened, captured by Larry Shapiro:
[Attached is an image showing a firefighter using a ground ladder to ventilate a smoke-filled window. The caption reads: "Firefighter on ground ladder vents window with smoke #EONE Strength."]
For those interested, there’s also a video showcasing the response efforts. [A video titled “ShapPhoto-BGFD†plays, providing a detailed look at the firefighting operation.]
In addition to these visuals, here’s a gallery of additional photos taken during the incident:
[Gallery thumbnails appear, each featuring different angles of the firefighting effort. Each image shows various aspects of the response, including firefighters in action, equipment deployment, and the extent of the smoke damage.]
If you’d like to view them all together, there’s a slideshow option available.

This event underscores the importance of having robust safety protocols in place, especially during emergencies like this one.
The role of the oil pump in the lubrication system:
The function of the oil pump is to raise the oil to a certain pressure and force the ground pressure to the moving surface of the engine parts. The structure of oil pump can be divided into two categories: gear type and rotor type.
Gear type oil pump is divided into internal gear type and external gear type, generally referred to as the latter gear type oil pump.
Structural characteristics of oil pump:
Simple structure, small size, light weight, large oil transmission. Cycloidal rotor pump system adopts the structure of internal and external rotor meshing, the number of teeth is small, the structure size is compact, and the sealing cavity can be formed without other isolation elements, and the number of parts is small.
What is the working principle of oil pump?
When the engine is working, the drive gear on the camshaft with the transmission gear of the motor oil pump, so that the drive gear fixed on the drive gear shaft rotates, thereby driving the driven gear to rotate in the opposite direction, the oil from the oil inlet cavity along the backlash and pump wall to the oil outlet cavity.
In this way, a low pressure is formed at the oil inlet chamber to produce suction, which sucks the oil in the oil pan into the oil chamber.
Due to the continuous rotation of the main and driven gears, the oil is constantly pressed to the required part.
