Fertilizer transformation depends on efficient product development

“Chinese fertilizers should focus on improving fertilizer efficiency and utilization rather than continuing to significantly increase fertilization levels.” Recently, the “Eleventh Five-Year” National Science and Technology Support Plan Project “Compound (Hybrid) Fertilizer Nutrient Efficiency Optimization Technology and Research” Project Seminar Discussion At the meeting, Zhao Bingqiang, the researcher of the Agricultural Resources and Regionalization Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the director of the National New Fertilizer Specialty Technical Committee, interviewed the reporter and described the focus of the R&D of fertilizer companies in the future.

China's average fertilizer fertilization rate is 21.2 kg, which is far higher than the world average of 8 kg, which is 3 times that of the United States and 2.5 times that of India and the European Union. Excessive fertilization will not only lead to waste of resources, increase the cost of food production, but also cause agricultural non-point source pollution, soil compaction, and deficiency of agricultural crops and various diseases. During the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” period, from the government to scientific research institutes and production enterprises, they have been looking for breakthroughs in the creation of fertilizers, hoping to promote the transformation of Chinese fertilizer companies, and improving the utilization efficiency of fertilizers is the focus of research and development. The reporter learned from the interview that in the past five years, Chinese fertilizer companies have cooperated with scientific research institutions and achieved many results.

The reporter was informed at the meeting that the new high-efficiency fertilizer science and technology innovation platform and development strategy project undertaken by Shenyang Applied Ecology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has been studied for five years and the results have successfully passed the project acceptance by the Ministry of Science and Technology. The 48 domestic fertilizer companies have already applied this technology. At present, they cumulatively produce more than 317 million tons of long-term slow-release fertilizers, accumulatively accumulate 91.53 million mu of agricultural extension area, and have an annual production capacity of 600,000 tons. The new product makes the effective period of nitrogen reach 120 days, which is 2 to 2.5 times of the effective period of common fertilizer, and achieves a one-time base application of long-acting compound fertilizer and slow-release urea without top dressing.

Shi Kefeng Chemical Co., Ltd. cooperated with Professor Fan Xiaolin of the Fertilizer and Balanced Fertilization Research Laboratory of South China Agricultural University to realize the industrialization of a series of controlled-release formula fertilizers manufactured with controlled-release fertilizers. The fertilizer produced by this technology is used for bananas, pineapples, fruits and vegetables, etc. It can be used for one-time fertilization to meet the needs of the whole growing period of the crop, and it can save 20% to 30% compared to conventional fertilizers, without increasing the input of farmers. The average output per acre is more than 10%.

Chairman of Shandong Jinzhengda Group Wan Lianbu told reporters that Kim Jong-taol insisted on the combination of production, education, research, agriculture, science and education. Jinzheng Group was the main investor in the investment, and Professor Zhang Min of Shandong Agricultural University was responsible for the subject. Both parties jointly controlled the resin coating. The release of key fertilizer technology integration and industrialization has become a reality in Jin Zhengda. Kim Ching-gat supported the R&D platforms of the National Engineering Research Center for Controlling Slow-release Fertilizers and National Postdoctoral Scientific Research Workstations, and promoted the product upgrades of Kim Jongda Group. It also showed that the development of new fertilizers has broad prospects for development.

Guo Jianwen, chairman of Jinan Lexi Fertilizer Co., Ltd., said that parcels of fertilizer have been settled in Lexis, and its unique brand and fertilizer efficiency have improved the company's competitiveness both at home and abroad, and Lexi Shi has been among the top five in the world. Released fertilizers and became Asia's largest packaged controlled-release fertilizer production base. A total of more than one million tons of packaged fertilizers have been sold.

Yu Zhongxiu, general manager of Zhonghe Bio-Fertilizer Co., Ltd., Weifang City, said that organic-inorganic compound fertilizers produced by using compound fertilizers to optimize nutrient and nutrient-optimized technologies and processes not only allow crops to be used for one-time fertilization, but also contribute more fertilizer than conventional fertilizers. With a 30% reduction in plots, the crop still has an increase in production, while saving 30% of the labor input.

Dr. Zhao Bingqiang said that the National Eleventh Five-Year National New High-Efficiency Fertilizer Creation Project was co-organized by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Ministry of Education. The participating units involved as many as 40 research institutes, colleges, and famous enterprises. Over the past five years since the project was implemented, it has been used in slow-release nitrogen fertilizers, research on release technology and industrialization, controlled release/encapsulation technology and industrialization, efficient optimization and industrialization of compound (mixed) fertilizer nutrients, and key technologies and industrialization of commodity organic fertilizer production. High-efficiency utilization of water-insoluble potash mineral resources has become the core of research, and has formed a new and highly efficient fertilizer technology innovation system in China, which has enhanced the technological innovation capability and technological level of China's fertilizer industry.

Li Rong, director of the Soil Fertilizer Division of the National Agricultural Technology Extension Service Center, stated that during the “11th Five-Year Plan” period, the development and promotion of new-type high-efficiency fertilizers has entered a period of rapid development, which has promoted a number of enterprise product upgrades and transformations. He pointed out that in order to achieve 100 billion kilograms of national grain output and ensure food security and stability, we must rely on scientific and technological progress, and the development and application of new fertilizers have an irreplaceable role in improving crop yields.
