Dongfeng Honda's production capacity increased to 480,000 units

On July 10, Dongfeng Honda announced that the second plant will be completed and put into operation in Wuhan. The initial production capacity will be 100,000 vehicles per year and will eventually expand to 240,000 vehicles. Dongfeng Honda general manager Mizuno Tashiro said that with the expansion of production capacity, Dongfeng Honda plans to achieve sales of 327,000 vehicles this year, which will increase by nearly 30% from last year.

New 240,000 capacity Dongfeng Honda No. 2 Plant is the world's leading advanced factory for environmental protection with processes such as stamping, welding, painting, synthetic resin, vehicle assembly, engine assembly, and vehicle inspection. The initial production capacity is 100,000 yuan per year. The vehicle will reach 120,000 the following year and will eventually complete the capacity planning of 240,000 vehicles. Together with the 240,000 capacity of the first plant, Dongfeng Honda will reach an overall production capacity of 480,000 vehicles in the future.

According to reports, Dongfeng Honda's No. 2 Plant has adopted a number of advanced and new technological equipments in the country and has reached the current international leading level in terms of production efficiency, product quality, and energy conservation and emission reduction. The main assembly shop adopts the world's advanced and domestic first main conveying production line, integrates door sub-assembly, transportation, and inventory integration, and saves cost; the main line adopts a main conveying table board incorporating a door storage function to achieve a high degree of flexibility in vehicle models and operations. Sexuality, can meet the mixed production of a variety of models. In respect of energy conservation and emission reduction, the paint shop adopts the current industry-leading 4C2B process to substantially reduce natural gas consumption; the synthetic resin division uses a water-based primer coating to reduce VOC emissions by 96% to reach the world's leading level. The factory also introduced 600KW solar photovoltaic power generation system, and for the first time delivered solar power to the assembly line production line. This move is not only the first of Honda's global factories, but also unique in the Chinese auto industry.

The planned sales volume of 327,000 units in this year's "one-time planning and batch implementation" has always been the criteria for Dongfeng Honda's capacity building. Its initial production capacity was only 30,000 units. This second plant will also gradually increase the production scale according to market demand. Finally, the total capacity of the two large factories reached 480,000 vehicles.

At the same time, Dongfeng Honda has also changed the short-term characteristics of its previous product line. Since 2004, there was only one model, and now it has CR-V, CIVIC, Siming, Platinum, and the newly-listed ELYSION models. Dongfeng Honda's models have covered urban SUVs, mid-size cars, and high-end sports models. Many segments such as cars and MPVs, especially CR-V, have successfully developed and have been leading the domestic urban SUV market. Since its establishment nine years ago, Dongfeng Honda has achieved an average annual sales growth of 57.6%. In 2011, Dongfeng Honda achieved the historical breakthrough by successfully accumulating “millions of clubs” in China’s passenger vehicle companies.

Dongfeng Honda General Manager Mizuno Taisu announced that Dongfeng Honda plans to achieve sales of 327,000 vehicles this year, which will increase by nearly 30% from last year. Dongbin Honda executive deputy general manager Chen Binbo said that the commissioning of the second plant will help Dongfeng Honda improve the five product systems and further implement the platform strategy. Dongfeng Honda will focus on building two strategic platforms, Civic and CR-V, and gradually derive and expand the product line from the two platforms.

It is understood that the Dongfeng Honda will soon introduce the Honda hybrid vehicle Insight with imported cars.
