Current positioning technology analysis

1) GPS

Mobile location has been widely used, and GPS has become a standard smartphone. GPS positioning system is the use of satellite signals to locate the time difference, in the outdoor environment positioning accuracy range of 10 meters to 17 meters distance. The current application of a very wide range, but due to indoor environments such as building block, poor signal strength reasons, GPS positioning system is not suitable for indoor environments.

2) mobile base station positioning

In order to make up for the lack of GPS positioning system, communication operators have proposed a method for positioning the triangulation of base stations by mobile operators as long as they are available in the coverage area of ​​mobile communication signals. 3) WiFi or Bluetooth triangulation

Nowadays, WiFi signals are almost completely covered in an indoor environment such as a large shopping mall. Therefore, WiFi or Bluetooth triangulation can utilize the difference in signal strength or time difference of multiple base stations to achieve basic positioning requirements in an indoor environment. However, when a dedicated base station needs to be deployed, In the case of the system, the cost is high, and it is difficult to guarantee the positioning accuracy in the complicated environment.

4) Dedicated beacon positioning

Dedicated beacon positioning LED, ultrasonic, WiFi, Bluetooth, etc. can be used as positioning beacons to mark the position of the cell phone with beacons. The positioning accuracy generally depends on the beacon density. However, the location of beacon positioning a larger amount of construction and maintenance process is relatively complicated.

To this end, Gao Heng also designed and developed a set of ultrasonic time-lag positioning system, the system is composed of ranging equipment in the launch of a beam of sound or ultrasound, mobile phones automatically detect ranging pulse signal, the use of self-developed detection algorithm to calculate the distance, Wirelessly transmit to the WiFi base station, transmit to the management center and record and display the real-time position of the construction staff. Its main advantage is the small number of devices, easy installation, and does not rely on the original signal at the scene.

Positioning technology signal direction detection

At the conference site, General Tang also mentioned that directional information will be more reliable than intensity information, while Gao Heng's base station can detect a 360-degree area and can know the specific source of information at any moment. The principle of this technique is to use radio phase control techniques to direct the radio waves in a specific direction and to allow the radio waves to rotate as required. Applying this principle to a wifi base station allows the beam to be directed in the desired direction.

Tang always expressed that Gao Heng's development of this positioning system can obtain two angles of arrival by allowing two base stations to monitor signals of the same source at the same time and can accurately know their specific positions in space. Its main advantage is the small number of field devices, easy installation, independent of the original signal on site and high positioning accuracy.
